Sam is a qualified solicitor and associate at New Media Law, having joined the firm in August 2019 and qualifying in March 2022. With four years' post-qualification experience, Sam has developed a broad and commercially focused advisory practice, acting for a diverse range of clients across the technology, entertainment and media sectors.

Sam advises clients on a wide spectrum of commercial and intellectual property matters, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of law and emerging technology. His work spans the drafting and negotiation of complex commercial agreements, IP licensing arrangements, and technology-related contracts, with a growing specialism in the legal and regulatory challenges arising from artificial intelligence including advising clients on AI governance, the intellectual property implications of generative AI, data rights, and the structuring of AI-driven commercial arrangements, helping businesses navigate this rapidly evolving landscape with clarity and confidence.

Sam also has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions advisory work, acting for buyers, sellers and investors across a range of transactions in the technology and creative industries. He has developed a particular expertise in the acquisition and disposal of music intellectual property assets, advising clients on the due diligence, structuring and negotiation of music catalogue acquisitions, publishing rights transactions and royalty-based assets. Sam's understanding of both the commercial and creative dimensions of these deals allows him to provide pragmatic, strategic advice tailored to the specific needs of rights holders, investors and industry stakeholders alike.

Prior to joining New Media Law, Sam read law at the University of Westminster, graduating with First Class Honours in July 2019 having completed the Integrated Master's in Law degree.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys turning out regularly for his local football club as well as playing squash whilst also finding time to follow his beloved Arsenal FC. Sam has a keen interest in travel and is an enthusiastic home cook, always seeking out new culinary challenges some more triumphant than others, by his own admission.
